Fiber Designer/Permitting Coordinator
Help plan, design and maintain outside plant fiber optic network. Coordinate services related to OSP Fiber Network Projects, including, but not limited to: construction permitting, surveying, staking, applying for joint use pole permission, utility easement research, right of way determination, pole auditing, and documentation.
Reports to: Construction Engineering Manager
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Plan, design, implement and maintain documentation for fiber optic outside plant facilities
· Support existing and ongoing projects
· Understand outside plant construction techniques and design to aerial and/or underground engineering requirements
· Must be competent with 2D CAD, GIS, and similar systems, as well as prints to correctly interpret construction plans and update drawings for implementation of plant construction and modification of existing facilities as needed
· Create permit requests and perform appropriate follow-up to ensure completion/ approval of permits
· Participate in providing a budget for the implementation of designs, new services, technology, and industry requirements
· Responsible for assisting with project expenditure reporting, creating progress reports, and recommending solutions to management
· Coordinate and/or assist with necessary fieldwork
· Mentor college interns and assist as needed
· Coordinate with 3rd party fiber design, engineering & construction contractors as needed
· Meet with permitting authorities as needed
· Assist and support restoration work
· Maintain safe work habits and conditions per the regulations and policies
· Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Prefer 2-year degree in Engineering field or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently. Capability to think logically, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions (Documentation as needed). Ability to utilize computer and other technology to complete duties. Must be proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, and similar software. Time management, multi-tasking, dependability, and detail-oriented abilities are critical. Ability to interpret a variety of documentations including but not limited to construction plans, drawings, and maps.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift 25 lbs. Ability to crawl, stoop, kneel, walk on uneven terrain; operate motor vehicles including cars, vans, and pickup trucks. Wearing appropriate personal safety equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is indoors in a
cubicle area and outdoors, on an as needed basis. This role routinely uses
standard office equipment such as desktop & laptop computers, tablets,
phones, copier, scanner, fax, etc.

Engineering Manager
Lead the outside plant design, quote, estimation, permitting, and engineering efforts to support our business strategies. Responsible for providing strategic direction, budget planning, team development, and execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures efficiency, quality, and integrity in all facets of data and execution within the quote, design, and construction phases.
- Keeps company leadership aware of the status on projects, specifications, and practices.
- Responsible for the company wide efforts that support internal teams and broader organization with related business needs.
- Defines, documents, and owns departmental roadmaps.
- Highly skilled and knowledgeable at permitting.
- Maintain KPIs, metrics, and other tools for managing the department. Understands how to manage a volume of work and can scale up/down based on workload.
- Develops budget and forecasting for departmental resources and tools while identifying cost saving opportunities.
- Supports internal design teams, along with OSP operations teams, making sure design specifications are understood and applied for consistent and reliable practices.
- Develops, implements, and reports on quote and design-related process and technology improvements.
- Serves as the point of escalation for all prioritization and issues
- Provides quality coaching, leadership and direction to Design, Engineering, and Construction teams. Cultivates, pursues, and promotes a culture of continued excellence through individual and team growth.
- Takes on other duties needed to help drive our purpose, fulfill our principles, and uphold our organizational values.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree with concentration in engineering or technology education preferred. Equivalent experience or training may substitute for the education requirement. Must have experience leading high functioning teams. Expertise with CAD, field engineering, engineering manager, estimating, bid, and proposal, etc. Strong leadership skills, consensus building capability, influencing skill,s and credibility with other functional areas; demonstrated ability to lead change. Ability to effectively problem-solve complicated issues. Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills. Experience with growing teams from small to large. Have strong relationship with CAD personnel, field engineers, P. E. s, and other industry professionals. Strong network of potential employees and subcontractors. Strong experience with estimating, bid, and proposal.
Prefer: Experience with telecom industry and fiber to the home and GPON experience
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of documentations including but not limited to construction plans/ maps/ drawings, safety rules, operation/ maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to lift 50 lbs. Able to safely operate a variety of construction equipment including but not limited to forklift, trencher, backhoe, bucket truck and other vehicles. CDL preferred. Ability to crawl, stoop, kneel, walk on uneven terrain. Wear appropriate personal safety equipment.

Technician Assistant
Performs a variety of general labor tasks.
Reports To: OSP Construction Manager
Full Time Position (Hourly)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform necessary labor tasks needed to expedite construction and other projects.
· Duties may include but not limited to cleaning and preparing job site, loading and delivering materials, using a variety of hand and power tools safely, and perform traffic control duties such as setting up signs, cones and flagging vehicles as necessary.
· Properly maintain company tools, vehicles, and equipment.
· Follow all company safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment as required.
· Ability to follow directions and complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.
· Capability to work independent or as a team as needed.
· Present a positive professional image while in the field.

Tower Technician/ Tower Climber
Department: Infrastructure Support
Reports To: Tower Foreman (James Sheehan)
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Climb and mount equipment to towers, water towers, grain elevators as needed
· Assist tower foreman with all aspects of tower upgrades, installs, and maintenance
· Serve as part of the on-call rotation for tower emergency or maintenance during off hours.
· Ability to problem solve issues or alerts with tower equipment
· Properly maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
· Follow all company safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment as required
EDUCTATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instruction, and procedure manual. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in person with customers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
