Outside Plant Design & Construction

 

 

Design, build, and maintain outside plant fiber network  

 

 

Reports To: President

Exempt Full Time Position (Salary)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Plan, design, build, and maintain fiber outside plant facilities.

·         Project management for new and existing projects.

·         Maintain safe work habits and conditions per regulations and policies. Provide on-going safety training and certifications to the team.

·         Understand outside plant construction techniques and standards.

·         Negotiate, implement, and supervise contracts with external contractors.    Ensure compliance with contracts and timelines.

·         Oversee aerial and underground construction and maintain engineering requirements.

·         Develop mitigation and restoration methods for emergency conditions such as fiber damages, power failures, and other disasters.   Develop proactive approaches to damage prevention.

·         Supervise new plant construction and modification of existing facilities as needed.    Maintain and enforce safety and plant standards.

·         Participate in providing a budget for the implementation of designs, new services, technology, and industry requirements.

·         Supervise and monitor fiber construction employees and contractors.

·         Assist with design and documentation of outside plant facilities.

·         Assist customer installation team with fiber facility assignments and access.

·         Requisition material and supplies for projects and ongoing needs.

·         Implement permits and renew as necessary. Review all permit notices.

·         Conduct field surveys for underground and aerial construction.

·         Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

·      Read, interpret, and modify construction and survey documents both in electronic and printed form.  Knowledge of surveying and construction staking.

·      Knowledge of construction safety and related legal requirements.

·      Knowledge of construction contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scheduling

·      Ability to work CAD, GIS, and project management systems.


 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is a mix of office and field locations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copier, scanner, fax, etc.  Field work will be required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.  Ability to complete assigned tasks effectively and efficiently.  Capability to think logically, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in various forms.

Field Service Technician

 

Department: Installation

Reports To: Matthew Bennett

 

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Provide installation and service of all services provided by Amplex Electric

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Install and service internet, VOIP, and any services provided by Amplex Electric

·      Mount equipment to customers home.  Run outdoor and indoor cable though walls, crawl spaces, attics and basements properly and neatly.

·      Assist customers in configuring computer and/or router for internet service.

·      Properly maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.

·      Collect and submit accurate documents and money collected.

·      Present a positive professional image to customers at all times.

·      Provide technical knowledge, expertise, and training to other installers as required.

·      Follow all company safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment as required.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instruction, and procedure manual.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively in person with customers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

·      Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions finished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

·      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift, carry and climb a 75 lb. 32’ ladder, and climb a 50’ tower.  Ability to crawl, stoop, kneel, and drive a truck.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is outdoors in extreme high and low temperatures and all forms of precipitation.
