These instructions assume that you have already set up an account in Outlook 2002/2003 using these instructions.
The Amplex mail server only relays mail for Amplex customers. If you are online using a connection provided by Amplex, you don't need to do anything special to send mail. However, if you use another ISP such as AOL, or are checking your email from work or another location, you will have problems sending mail unless you turn on SMTP authentication. SMTP authentication is a way of letting our mail server know that you are indeed a customer, and that your email should be relayed.
Open Outlook 2002/2003 and go to "Tools" --> "Email Accounts":

Select "View or change existing e-mail accounts" and click "Next":

Select your Amplex mail account and click "Change"::

Click on "More Settings":

Select the tab labeled "Outgoing Server" and select the box labeled "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication":

Select the tab labeled "Advanced" and change the ougoing server (SMTP) port to 587. When you are done, click "OK":

Click "Next" on the "E-mail Accounts" window:

Click "Finish" on the "E-mail Accounts" window:
