Sending Mail From Another ISP

These instructions assume that you have already set up an account in Outlook 2000 using these instructions.

The Amplex mail server only relays mail for Amplex customers. If you are online using a connection provided by Amplex, you don't need to do anything special to send mail. However, if you use another ISP such as AOL, or are checking your email from work or another location, you will have problems sending mail unless you turn on SMTP authentication. SMTP authentication is a way of letting our mail server know that you are indeed a customer, and that your email should be relayed.

From the 'Tools' menu, select 'Accounts'.

Click on the 'Mail' tab, and open the properties for the account:

Click on the 'Servers' tab and select the checkbox labeled 'My server requires authentication':

Click on the 'Advanced' tab and change the SMTP port from 25 to 587:

Click 'OK' to save the changes. You can then close the 'Internet Accounts' window.

Please contact us if you have any questions or problems.
