FrontPage: All web sites that use FrontPage extensions will be accessible using the username/password set up with the account. If you do not know your password please contact us and we will change it for you. Call us at (419) 837-5015 or support@amplex.net.
Sites that have FrontPage extensions will also be accessible via FTP (see below). You should not use ftp to publish your FrontPage web to the server as ftp will mangle the permissions on the folders - please use the publishing function in FrontPage with the address http://www.your_site_name.com when publishing.
FTP: Sites that do not use FrontPage extensions (and some with FrontPage) will be setup with FTP access. To reach the site use the address "ftp.your_website_name.dom". The username/password will be the password you requested when the account was set up. Please note that you must NOT log in as anonymous or you will not be able to make changes (and will probably not even see your files).
Statistics: All web sites have traffic statistics available. To view the statistics for your web site go to http://awstats.amplex.net. The username will always be the domain name (amplex.net, ibsohio.com, etc.) and the password the password set up for the account.
Hosting Partners: Access to web sites will be available via FTP. Please use ftp.amplex.net and your username/password and you should see folders for the web sites that you are responsible for. Websites can also be made accessible by FrontPage using your username/password if requested. Please let us know if you need access via FrontPage.
Log Files, CGI-BIN, ASP, etc...
Log Files: Raw server log files are available for your web site at no extra charge. Please request access to these files if you need them. Please note that storage space for log files is limited and we reserve the right to delete logs as needed. Please make copies of these logs on your system on a regular basis if these are important to you.
CGI-BIN: Server scripts may be executed if needed. The traditional uses for scripts are generally better served by client side javascript or other client side methods and we discourage the use of cgi scripts. We do allow scripts if you have a requirement for them. Our server supports PERL5 as well as Active Server Pages.
ASP: The server that most sites are on is a IIS5 server and provides full support for Active Server Pages.
Databases: Sites with FrontPage extensions have full support for Access databases. Please let us know if you need a DSN set up on the server.
Sending Mail: To send mail from a web page either use the FrontPage form handler or the .asp mail script shown here.
Receiving Mail: Please let us know what mail accounts (if any) you would like assigned to your web site. We can forward mail to another account, drop it in a POP3 mailbox, distribute it to multiple users, etc. If we drop it to a mailbox the POP3 mailbox name will be the site name. We do not have any standard names that we set up for sites - you need to ask for the ones you want. We would suggest that you consider using at least a webmaster mailbox. You may retrieve the mail from pop3.your_site_name.dom with your password.
